Our Jewelweed salve is made with just-picked, the freshest jewelweed (NOT dried!), including leaves and stems where it's most potent magic resides! We then infuse it into olive oil to capture it's amazing benefits! The infused oil is used to craft the salve, as well as our Jewelweed Soap we make.

Poison Ivy, Poison Oak, and Poison Sumac all contain "urushiol oil", an extremely sticky oil that can cause severe rash. The problem can be, if you touch, either accidentally (while hiking or working near these plants), or by transfer (off an item or pet that has it on it's fur), you can then touch other parts of your body and spread the oil and potential for rash. The first thing you should do when you realize you've been exposed, is wash the area, and your hands, to prevent further spread!!! If you happen to be around wild-growing jewelweed and you recognize it, the best antidote is to pick some jewelweed leaves and stems, crush them up in your hands and immediately rub them on the affected areas that have come in contact with the poison plants. Then wash with Jewelweed Soap to neutralize the urushiol oil, and add some Jewelweed Salve to the affected area to further neutralize the exposed areas. Best to have Jewelweed Soap and Salve as part of your First Aid Kit, especially if you are frequently in areas where the potential for exposure is great! This salve specifically targets neutralizing the urushiol oil from the poisonous plants mentioned, but is also extremely soothing on any itchy skin.
